My day in pictures. Got some creature comfort from Keylo (sitting on my feet), Queen, & the femme fatale kitty Vivian. Then the best of all, dim sum (my first time) at Chopstix out Rosedale. That Jasmine Tea was so good, had to get some for myself. In lieu of a Saturday evening w/ vino I think I’m going to fire up the tea kettle. Thanks @dinnerondemand_bmore for a lovely Saturday; you always know where to find good food☺️

Last night was pure magic; I carry that glow into today. I am grateful for the lively discussion had in response to my “Who You Calling a Bitch” essay. Then to hear Joelle Biele’s poetry about women who rode the rails in the early 20th century was fascinating. Thanks again to @heyfayemccray & for reaching out to me to read for Wilde. Nice to see my cousin @darlenewoods001 and my girls from the old j-o-b Jackie, @annikaonline, Rose, & Sasha☺️

Spotted in the wild, 2 throwbacks: pay phone & Snapple. I remember having the nerve to have a beeper 📟, getting paged, & pulling up on a gas station pay phone to make a non-emergency call...I felt so important.
Nature. As I put together my playlist aka essays for an upcoming reading I’m reminded about my connection to the earth since childhood. I’ve noticed that is a theme in my work & my writing seems to come alive most in those moments. Today I am thankful that I can see these colorful berries in a bush, taste the savory tenderness of an apple-smothered pork chop, feel the vibration of the cat’s purr on my fingertips, and hear the rustle of squirrels climbing the trees outside. That there is a blessing. Have a good evening y’all. #countrygirlatheart
